There have been a few sequels (Dreamfall and Dreamfall Chapters) but I highly recommend the first game. I’m going to go ahead and recommend an older game, The Longest Journey. I am very hopeful towards them, but I am looking for some games I might have missed since adventure games aren't widely discussed and you have to look for them if you want to find the good ones. PS: I guess many people would recommend the Blackwell series, which I already plan on getting into as soon as I find the time. I also don't have any specific genre restrictions, it doesn't even have to be a point and click. I do love well though-out puzzles, but they are not that big of a priority, at least not as much as the writing and atmosphere. So I decided to make a post about it here and ask everyone for some suggestions about games with similar tones, similarly well written and acted dialogue, and having a good soundtrack is definitely a plus. And the intricate way they handled exposition through inserting it naturally in the dialogues was great, even the tiny banters between them on missions would tell something concrete about the characters and I haven't been able to find that in any game I played since then. I especially liked the melancholic undertones, with each character having their own demons but also not being defined by them. I haven't even be able to replay it because I am scared it won't feel the same unless I completely forget how much I enjoyed it the first time. I loved most of them for sure, but Unavowed just hit differently. I have played many similar games like Kathy Rain, Technobabylon, The Cat Lady(and the other games of the creator whose names I forget), Strangeland, Shardlight etc but none of them satisfied me enough. It was also my first introduction to WadjetEye and the specific genre of 2D pixel adventure games(not sure if that is what it's called?). In fact, I haven't been that emotionally invested in a game other than the classic ones like Syberia and The Longest Journey series. Even though some people criticize it due to lack of complex puzzles the setting, the characters, the voice acting, the dialogue, the story and the soundtrack was exactly what I wanted out of an adventure game. Sometime in the last year, I played Unavowed for the first time and instantly fell in love with it. r/adventuregamestudio - Make your own adventures.r/gamesdeal - Cheap games around the net.You can join us HERE Other subreddits you might like You should consider posting to /r/LetsPlayVideos instead of here. You may or may not be notified if your LP submission is removed - it will not be reinstated.LPs of well known games (for example any LucasArts title) are completely prohibited. You may not link to further parts in the comments.
